Trey has a little bump above his left eyebrow. Maybe you noticed it in the pictures?
Trey was born with it. It's funny, at first we were very concerned and now that we know it is benign it seems silly to get rid of. Kind of like a birthmark. The technical term is a
dermoid cyst. Essentially it is a skin cell that got trapped during fetal development, placed between the skull and forehead skin. The cells continued to grow and differentiate (like they are supposed to) and hence Trey's bump.
Surprisingly, this is a pretty classic case, the dermatologist called it within seconds of our consult. Multiple doctors have told us not to worry, but it does have to be removed. In the future (years) an injury could cause it to burst open and then the tissue could become necrotic causing undue harm. So there you have it, our sweet little munchkin will need plastic surgery at 6-9 months old. When the time comes, we will post more later, but in the meantime enjoy his precious love bump, because it will not be here for too long....
